- Banbury Historical Society (registered charity No 260581) was founded in 1958 by a group of local historians to encourage research into the local history of Banbury town and its hinterland. (A good account of the founding can be found in the Banbury Guardian website.)
We have around 200 members, mostly local but some scattered far and wide. Our annual programme of activities runs from September to July, with lectures from September through to Easter and then a varied programme of outings and expeditions in the summer. We meet for the lectures at 7.30 pm on the second Thursday of each month in the Education room of Banbury Museum. (Entrance from Spiceball Park Road, OX16 2PQ). Members and visitors are made very welcome at our meetings.
